Under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950, Marwadi Education Foundation's Group of Institutions (MEFGI) was established as a primary organ of Marwadi Education Foundation in 2008. Marwadi University is a joint venture between Marwadi Shares and Finance Limited (MSFL), a large stock brokerage firm in India, and Chandarana Intermediaries Brokers Pvt. Ltd. (CIBPL), a top firm in technical and arbitrage trading in Indian stock markets. The Gujarat Assembly passed the Marwadi University bill, and Marwadi University was formed on May 9, 2016, under the Gujarat Private Universities Act 9 of 2016.
